Rudolf Khachatryan was born in 1937 in Yerevan.

Died: August 15, 2007 (age 70 years), Berlin, Germany

His exceptional artistic abilities were evident already in childhood and in 1955 the graphic works of the talented young man were presented at republican exhibitions, earning special attention. then the artist’s talent developed and improved in the workshop of Ervand Kochar under the direct attention of the Master.

The artist’s art was formed in the 1960s, but reached maturity and acquired a wide calling only in 1971, when the artist settled in Moscow. The ocher pencil portraits he created during these years are distinguished by their exceptional technical execution and classical purity of line.

Since 1978, not drastic, but shifts have been observed in the artist’s art: the size of his graphic sheets is increasing, ink, a reddish chalk pencil (sanguine), pen and brush are used.

In the 1990s, Khachatryan attempted a unique development of the principles of “spatial painting” of his teacher Yervandashat Kochar, creating multidimensional objects consisting of plywood sheets or copper plates connected at right angles, moving and rotating around an axis.

His works have been exhibited in dozens of countries, receiving awards and prizes.
